Workshop with photographer Emma Stoner at Yalham Hayes Flower Farm
Painting with Light
Learn the magic of cameraless photography and create photograms using sunlight and flowers. This method was how the first ever photographs were made by Henry Fox Talbot back in the 1830s. Immerse yourself in nature as we explore this unique art form at the magical
Yalham Hayes Flower Farm for a very special one day workshop on Friday 16 August.

THE WORKSHOP
Your day will start at 10.30am in the beautiful barn at Yalham Hayes with a welcome drink and a chance to meet your fellow creators and workshop leader Emma Stoner. During the workshop you will explore Cyanotype and Lumen photography, working with Emma to create several prints to take home along with the knowledge to create more yourself. Included in the ticket price are several flower / foliage stems which you will be able to choose from the flower beds, these will be the subjects of your photography. Emma will include information about the history of the techniques along with step by step instructions, so complete beginners are welcome alongside those who have more knowledge of photography and are looking to add to their skills.
We have planned a 45 minute lunch break when you are welcome to wander the scented paths of the flower field and enjoy your packed lunch. There will also be a break for homemade cake during the day which is included in the ticket price. This will be a really special and unique day in a beautiful setting with an inspiring workshop leader. I hope you will join me as I have already booked a ticket for myself!

The Flower Farm
Aizel Finch is a flower grower in Taunton, Somerset. She began planting in her flower field in 2020 and named it after their home — Yalham Hayes. It is situated on what was 203 acres of Yalham Farm which is believed to be the source of the River Otter! With one acre devoted to flower growing, it is founded on responsible farming practices, permaculture, family and community. Aizel started Yalham Hayes with an understanding that strong responsible small businesses can contribute to developing a more resilient, local economy. It is built on sound and regenerative ways of cultivating the soil and growing beautiful, and diverse flower crops, mainly. With floral artistry at its heart, Yalham Hayes is also a place, a home to Aizel’s family, first and foremost. And, although small, it is a space for community, for artists to create and share.
If you would like to 'Pick Your Own' following the workshop you can book a time slot via the Yalham Hayes website here: https://www.yalhamhayes.com/pick-your-own-flowers
It's £20 for a bucket of flowers.
